A Slow Descent

Blood-red Mahogany

(I will probably continue on working on this song later, so don’t worry, it’s not a finished product to me)

soundtest of my new recording hardware. Excuse the simplicity of the riff and the fact that it sounds a bit unsynchronized, It wasn’t something I put effort in. Just a simple two-track recording to see how the Line 6 UX2 held up.

Very pleased with the quality of the sound.

Now I just need an artist name and a more community oriented page to put music on and I’ll be in business.

Visual Kei and the social aspects.

Lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Japanese bands, mainly visual kei/oshare kei/angura kei etc. No I don’t understand their lyrics, but yet I do like their music. Don’t ask me to explain why though. I guess I’m just a big fan of getting a feeling out of music, no matter if I don’t understand the lyrics.

Anyways, a thing visual bands are often recognized by is the whole visual aspect of it. They dress in strange clothes, look androgynous a lot of the time and generally stand out a lot. This is not really a gimick as much as it is a, in my eyes, very respectable statement. It’s basically a statement of individualism.

You see, in countries like Japan, individualism is nearly non-existant. People are all pretty much pushed into a mold and standing out from that mold is usually not something that goes by unnoticed.

This is where visual bands come in. They basically try to stand out as much as possible in order to stand up against this whole “being pushed into a mold” stuff. I really respect that statement and if situations were like that over here, I’d definitely join a western visual band or something…

Not that I don’t have any interest for something like that anyways, because frankly; I’d love to be in a band like that… Except one that uses lyrics that I can actually understand and I can’t imagine myself being the only one.

So I just kinda thought I’d post this. I don’t really have a specific reason for it or something, I’m just bored.

Hope I made someone aware anyways. :)

DaisyStripper rocking the VK looks.

PS: If this blogpost seems incoherent, it’s because I’m kinda tired, and I’m going to bed as soon as my cellphone has charged.

R.I.P. Metal’s godfather

Just a quick salute to Ronnie James Dio who died may 16th in the hospital with stomach cancer as the cause.

Rest In Peace.

Mike Portnoy + Avenged Sevenfold?

As we all know, it hasn’t been that long since the Rev has died. Avenged Sevenfold, being destroyed by the loss, decided to record the upcoming album entirely in his honor. A pretty hard thing to do, no doubt, but they even got the Rev’s big example; Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) on-board for it.

Mike Portnoy, being one of the world’s best drummers, seemingly didn’t even have to think about the proposal and decided to help the band as what seems like a way to honor the Rev as a drummer as well as a adoring fan.

I think both Portnoy and the rest of Avenged Sevenfold deserve a round of applause for this. I really can’t imagine how hard it would be to just keep recording after a fellow bandmate as well as their friend close enough to be considered family suddenly passes.

So here’s a salute to Avenged Sevenfold and Mike Portnoy. May this be the best album you ever made, and good luck!

Basically just a huge list of artists/bands a friend of mine made. It’s mainly rock/metal and stuff like that, but there is some different genres in there too.

Protest the Hero

Ok, for those few of you who haven’t heard this band, they are awesome in pretty much every way imaginable and have almost everything I like about music. Intense vocals, awesome instrument mastery and a general sound I adore.

Though probably not my most favorite band ever, they’re definitely up there, and I find myself getting more and more interested in their music.

If you are thinking about checking this band out, all I have to say is “heretics and killers” “bloodmeat” and “sequoia throne.”

Have fun and rock on.
